I have spent over 30 years searching for better ways to assist people to become healthy. I began my career in 1977 completing a Diploma of Teaching in Physical Education. I then spent the next 24 years working directly in the fitness industry with the single minded purpose to get people fit and healthy. Whilst my focus has been in the health area my interest also lies heavily in achieving personal freedom through financial independence and personal improvement strategies.
 In 1980 I opened the first aerobics centre in Brisbane when there were only what were then termed as “sweat boxes” (the gyms), packed with free weights and patronised by hulky scary guys. Some girls too. Though they weren’t as scary.
This experience gave me an incredible insight into the highs and lows that an industry goes through during its birthing process. I experienced great success initially followed by the collapse of the whole industry in 1984. This devastated me financially and I had to learn how to survive in a cruel world. I succeeded and sold my last remaining centre in 1986.  
In 1987, (with my current spouse Debra), I commenced Fitlink, a training college to specifically train personnel for the fitness industry. It was here that Fitlink gained a high reputation for the standard of fitness leaders and personal trainers needed for the industry. Through Fitlink, I met and worked with Peter Rhodes and Brian Cooke and was so highly impressed with the standard of their teaching that when it came to setting up Busting Free, I couldn't pass on inviting Peter & Brian to be part of the busting free team.
 
After 16 years of successfully operating Fitlink I sold it in 2003 and spent the last few years researching how I could follow my passion of delivering quality health programs to consumers on a global scale. I discovered internet marketing opportunities and resolved to bring quality programs to people globally at a realistic fee.
 
I have lived my passion and I am passionate about the quality and delivery of these programs so that everyone who wants to, can access quality educational health programs. I am determined to seek quality presenters (like Peter & Brian) to bring different perspectives and different topics in an online environment. I am also a great believer in the face to face delivery of programs and will endeavour to present as many locally based face to face programs as is feasible.
I also want this site to represent the greatest tool for connecting like minded health and lifestyle orientated people to events, places and people through the unique “Get Connected” feature of that will appear in the new site. 
 
Peter Rhodes

- Level 1 Str & Conditioning Coach - Personal Trainer.
 
Peter's qualifications set him up admirably to deliver quality training. However it's not his qualifications that mark him as an outstanding teacher, but his ability to connect with people to impart & teach an understanding of diet & nutrition at a level that people relate to. 
 
Peter has consulted hundreds if not thousands of his clients and taught just as many students in his role as a nutrition teacher for personal trainers at Fitlink Training College. There is no doubt Peter has a gift in teaching sound nutritional concepts. You will walk away amazed at how much you can benefit from his knowledge and understand how to apply it to your life.
Peter's experience is extensive and it is this experience that he brings to share with you in the Busting Free program. You will come to understand principles that allow you to evaluate the mixed messages that bombard you on a daily basis. This allows you to sift through the hype and to move toward good nutrition principles.
Peter's extensive knowledge & experience have enabled us to develop unique proprietary systems and techniques to help you manage your health which includes:

  • Target Health - a food management system that is specific to your special needs.
  • A colour coded food energy density system that allows to determine which foods you need to allow as part of your daily requirements and which foods you need to avoid (at least in the short term) while you learn to manage your energy needs.
Be prepared to be engaged. Be prepared to learn. Be Prepared to reach new heights in your own education of nutrition principles. Be prepared to be energised by Peter's enthusiam.
  
Brian Cooke
Brian Cooke - Director of Physical Activity - (Ba.ExerciseSc) - Senior lecturer of Health Science TAFE Kingscliff(5years), lecturer at Canberra Instutite of Technology 06-07 & more recently back to TAFE Kingscliff .
 
 
Brian lives and believes in what he teaches or put another way "walks his talk". He lives a very physical life outside of his teaching career. Until recently he competed in ironman events with a goal to one day qualify and compete in the Hawaiian Ironman event. For a 42 yr old guy this is no walk in the park. In case you don't know what an ironman event entails; it's a 4 klm swim, followed by a 180klm cycle, finished off with a full marathon. Yep that's 42klms. Now in case you thought this was on successive days, I have to tell you right now that's all in 1 day. Yes indeed it takes at least 10 - 12 hours to complete the event.
 
Now I am not telling you all this to scare you, but simply to tell you that this man truly believes in the power of physical activity. No he does not want to convince you to enter ironman events. However he wants to tell you about the preventative & healing power that physical activity provides and how you can implement an activity program of your own that meets your needs right now. It may simply be a walk around the block. It doesn't matter but as long as you "do something every day to move" is Brian's simple message.
 
Brian has developed some proprietary systems of his own including:
  • A simple 5 level activity system that you can take with you where ever you are in the world and complete daily. Brian will teach you how to tap into the preventative nature of physical activity that will truly amaze you.
  • A physical activity energy expenditure system that allows you to easily assess how much activity you need to manage your energy or weight management needs. 
  • Our proprietary Personal Risk Assessment system 
Brian is a great teacher and a wonderful role model for physical activity. Let Brian show you how physical activity can be your best friend. You just need to let your mind take you there.
