What is
Metabolic testing?
Metabolic testing involves assessing your physiological response
during exercise to see and at what level of efficiency your body is
functioning
Whilst exercising you breathe into a collection mask and the air
that you exhale is measured by a small gas analysis unit
The ratio of carbon dioxide to oxygen in the expired air can
tell us precisely what fuel your body is burning (a mix of fats and
sugar) during exercise as well as how many calories your body has
used in total and of each fuel
This is a physiological footprint and NOT an educated guess as
is the case with some other systems and heart rate monitors
Your metabolic assessment shows (with medical grade accuracy):
how many calories you burn, how much fat and sugar you burn, your
cardio-vascular fitness level (VO2) and your anaerobic threshold
(the point where your body becomes inefficient during exercise)
